Here at Stewart Title & Trust of Tucson, we don't outsource our responsibility or product to others. From the moment escrow is opened to the issuance of the title policy following close of escrow, every part of the transaction is handled right here in Tucson. And since we are a locally owned, locally operated Company, a quick answer or solution to any issue or problem is just a phone call or email away.
With the outstanding support of a solid local organization and the fast service, communication and timely resolution of issues that Customers can always depend upon, our Escrow Officers are confident, motivated and eager to handle any challenge in the escrow process. Coupled with modern software and the latest in computer equipment, you will not find a better and less stressful place for you to service your Customers than at Stewart Title & Trust of Tucson.
Why our Title Officers?
We currently have 12 Title Officers at Stewart Title & Trust of Tucson, representing over 250 years of collective title experience. That works out to about 20 years average experience each. Our Title Department is the only one in Tucson that issues a complete range of title insurance and services in Pinal and Santa Cruz counties, in addition to Pima County. Three different title plants, with specific Title Officers primarily assigned to each county, but most of them able to handle multiple counties without hesitation. All of that right here in Tucson. And with most Commitments issued in less then one day. That's 8 hours, not 24 hours, or less. In fact, over 90% of our Commitments are out the door in that time. Not just out the door, but emailed in their entirety and in Escrow's mailbox ready for distribution. By experienced people who know the places and locations they are insuring because they also live here like you. And shop here, and pay taxes here and buy houses here, Just like you and just like most of your customers.
It takes an average of five years to train a good Title Officer. We compete with several title companies in Tucson who have outsourced their title work out of state, and even overseas, and they will have you believing that "anyone can do it", and "it doesn't take much to write a commitment", and "it will make more money for all of us in the long run", but, hey, do you really believe that? Who is reaping the benefits and raking in the big bucks now that their commitments and policies cost about one third as much to produce? Is your customer realizing this saving? Or are you? Are you able to communicate with your title officer quickly and reach quick resolution with a difficult requirement? Are your Letters of Indemnity acquired by your Title Department or do you have to figure out who to order them from and then chase them down prior to close of escrow? At Stewart Title & Trust of Tucson, we feel those are part of our obligations and responsibilities to our Escrow Officers. Providing the Escrow Officer with the fastest and most trouble-free product possible is the duty of any good Title Department.
Why our Trust Officers?
The Trust Department works directly with developers and homebuilders in the creation and development of new subdivisions. It provides service to these firms and represents and interacts on their behalf with the respective municipalities and state Department of Real Estate in creating legal subdivisions and land splits. The Trust Department then coordinates with the Escrow Officer in ensuring that sales are completed legally and in complance with the customer's requirements.
Stewart Title & Trust of Tucson employs 3 Trust Officers with a collective experience totaling over 85 years. We feel that the responsibility of this department is paramount to the subsequent ownership of developed property and therefore we ensure that it is staffed with some of the most experienced people in the real estate business.
Why our Team?
Well, you've heard about the opportunities and outstanding support we offer to Escrow Officers. After all, the Escrow Officer is the main representative and direct contact with our Customers, so providing them with the best support possible is vital to accomplishing our goals. But while the Title Department and Trust Department is their most direct technical support, we would be remiss to ignore the reast of the Team that makes Stewart Title & Trust of Tucson the oldest continually owned and operated Title Company in Pima County. From the Marketing Department, which evaluates market needs and makes contact with prospective customers, to the Account Servicing Department, which services loans created through Company escrows. From the Receptionist, who handles a busy multi-line switchboard and greets customers and directs them in a friendly, relaxed but yet professional manner, to 2 Company Messengers, who continue to deliver and pick up correspondence in the most efficient and direct manner possible. Long after many other Companies have switched to automated switchboards and delivery services, we continue to feel that such personal touches are necessary ingredients of a commited full service title company.

The philosophy of management at Stewart Title & Trust of Tucson is not really management. It is leadership. It is a true open door policy, with working managers who are always available for a question, complaint, compliment or suggestion. We believe in finding the best people possible for the position required, educating them on the goals and directions of the Company and their part in it, and then leaving them alone to do their job. Giving our people the opportunity to exercise the judgement necessary to solve problems and cure issues within their area of responsibility encourages greater initiative and the freedom of thought that benefits not only their own growth, but the continued growth of Stewart Title & Trust of Tucson.
