“Market Tucson 2010”

Tucson right now as a City is in an unoriginal position on its marketing ideas and ways. Tucson has been using the same routes of marketing for more than 20 years with no new progress. One of the major reasons for that is Tucson is lacking Vision of where we are headed. Many of us in the Real Estate Community see a Vision in Tucson and use it to our advantage to sell and refinance real estate. The real estate community is by far, one of the most powerful if not the most powerful communities in Tucson today.

 

With the aid of the technology today, we already have the means to market Tucson as much as ourselves for little cost if not any. Technology and the World Wide Web have made it practically free for us to be the first in our nation to take it upon ourselves to control and enhance our future. Here are some examples of open doors we have at our reach that we can use for free or for little cost on our own part.

All of us in the real estate community have the ability to market Tucson which in return will bring interest back in our community from outside growth, sales, jobs, and businesses. Tucson’s leader ship is readjusting and it may be a while for them to find its Vision. Meanwhile the real estate community can run with the Vision we already have. To look for what we have to market with is simple, we have weather, golf, resorts, mountain views, tourist attractions, health care building and growing here in Tucson, sports, rodeos, growing night life, state parks, wildlife attractions, a newly rebuilt highway, the list goes on and on. We are immune to our environment and we overlook what we really have to offer.

 

Together we can build and plan Project Market Tucson 2010 and introduce it through TAR’s new incoming President Bob Herd. If we have this done in time, Bob Herd will be able to announce it the day he takes office.

 

Here is the plan. As a real estate community, we can market outside of Tucson using simple ways of keeping our own name in the market here in Tucson and in other states. For an example using Craig’s list you can send a picture like the one below.


                

 In this example, Jeff may not have a house to put on craigslist today,however he is keeping his name out in the public and marketing Tucson at the same time. It cost nothing in many cities to market on www.craigslist.com

 

We have 5900 agents in the MLS. If we have one Tucson Realtor to market themselves on Craig’s list  in the city of Chicago, the  agent and Tucson has the opportunity of 100 or more people a day minimal to see look through the real estate part of Craig’s list and see the add. If we have 20 agents doing the same thing in Chicago, we are now if front of 2000. Everyone’s marketing will always be different than the others which has a better chance of catching the right eye. Now take 5900 agents and market the entire country where millions have a chance to be reminded about Tucson and see what happens. The average adult in this country has to be reminded 6 times to remember anything. Consistent marketing can make Tucson Arizona a house hold name. Also did you know using www.craigslist, www.activerain, and even www.facebook on a daily or weekly basis will shoot you up in the standing on Google, Bing, and Yahoo at no charge?

 

This Project has no boundaries to hold it from succeeding, commercial brokers can be marketing to new companies and stores moving in are area such as Target Super Center, the new Costco being built next year, and the new Children’s Hospital Don Diamonds name is on.  Lenders can market themselves and show pictures of the new I-10 and roadways Tucson’s showing progress on, or the Gem Show coming here in February, As long is positive, uplifting and full of energy we will make it happen.

 

We would start off by planning as step by step program with the TAR Membership Committee.  Many of the people on the committee have already been exposed to the technology we are using today in the real estate community. It would be appropriate to bring in as many ideas as we can to market. We all know not all ideas will be free to the public. However there are many individuals and companies in our community who have their own websites. To use the right keywords and Meta tags in their websites can also bring more interest here.

 

Time line. The real estate community will have to give it 3 to 5 months of marketing to see its affect on the community. We will notice national media asking “What is going on in Tucson” The worst that could happen is the media coming back negative, which we can be ready to say “ We expected that to happen it is national media we are talking about.” If we are successful in those 3 to 5 months we should see in that time home sale, small businesses and lending pick up as much as new jobs and growth moving at a faster pace. We could actually show the rest of the country that we don’t have to wait for the right city council to help us we believe in Tucson enough to help ourselves.
